India is the home to the largest young population in an ageing world. As said by Dr. Kalam, “This resource of the youth is an important building block for transforming India into a developed nation”. Thus to utilize this untapped resource of the nation, Yuva Thirang and Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre came up with the “KALAM BHARAT”. The primary aim of this is to create Young Leaders for Taking Forward the Visions and Missions of Dr. Kalam for a Developed India and Inclusive Society.
The training program was inaugurated by Shri Venkaiah Naidu, Honourable Vice President of India while the training module was inaugurated by Shri Rajiv Kumar, Honourable Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog at the 3rd edition of Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Innovation in Governance Awards held at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra, New Delhi on February 28, 2019.
Over 850 undergraduate students from all over the state of Telangana were selected as interns for the fifteen-week program. They were inducted and trained on 27-28th June 2019 in Hyderabad. These interns will be reaching out to over 55,000 kids of about 400 schools. They would also be helping in setting up 400 Kalam Libraries 400 equipment kits in five districts of Telangana.
